CommonThreadz is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is working to build awareness and inspire giving for philanthropic initiatives that help save children in extreme poverty in developing nations. We also enable the general public to submit their own ideas on our website for projects that will make a difference to these children and then vote on which ones will be acted upon and receive the support of CommonThreadz' fundraising and awareness campaigns. Throughout the entire process, the CommonThreadz community is integral to the success of each project and helps to spread the word and to inspire others to participate and give to the project. Our socially conscious t-shirts help to accomplish our mission by generating awareness for nonprofits that are making positive change in the world. For each shirt sold, we give a school uniform to an orphan or vulnerable child.

Our Ongoing Project — School Uniforms for Orphans and Vulnerable Children:


CommonThreadz also has an ongoing project to support orphans and vulnerable children in developing nations by giving them school uniforms so they can get an education and build their own strength.

The Problem For families facing the challenges of poverty in Africa, school clothes are not as crucial as the next meal. The direct costs of education, from a uniform and shoes to books and stationery, force millions of orphans and vulnerable children to miss out on school each year. For a child in need from a poor rural family who may only own one pair of old pants or a tattered dress, a school uniform is not just a requirement, but essential to build confidence and academic success. The Solution Your donation and /or purchase of one of our limited-edition t-shirts will provide school clothing for an orphan or vulnerable child in Africa, helping them get an education that can make the difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity. A new school uniform is the boost in self-esteem these deserving children need to speak up in class and do their best. CommonThreadz buys school uniforms made by seamstresses in Africa, so your donation will also benefit the local economy.

Education is recognized as the single most powerful investment that can be made in developing countries. Educating the young boys and girls stimulates economic growth, lowers child and maternal mortality rates, and stems the spread of HIV/AIDS. Your gift of $25 and / or t-shirt purchase will ensure that one orphan or vulnerable child is empowered with the knowledge, confidence and skills to make healthy life choices and break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their future children. Our T-Shirts:


Our socially conscious clothing helps to accomplish our mission by generating awareness for the worlk of other nonprofits while raising funds that allow us to make a positive change in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, and their caretakers in the developing world. We also host design competition for celebrity t-shirts that allow individuals to submit a design for voting and the winning design is selected by the celebruty for the shirt. For every t-shirt you buy we give an orphan or vulnerable child with a school uniform so they can go to school.



Our t-shirts serve two purposes: 1) to educate and build awareness for other nonprofits and, 2) to provide an orphan or vulnerable child a school uniform for each shirt sold. After our cost for the t-shirts and printing, 100% of remaining proceeds go to helping children in need in developing countries.

By January 1, 2009 CommonThreadz will be able to give away 100% of the funds that we raise; ensuring that the money donated goes to the projects you vote for. We will be able to give away 100% of public donations because CommonThreadz is underwritten by private donors, corporate sponsors and in-kind contributions that support our operations.
